The Commonwealth Games Association of the Isle of Man (CGA) is encouraging applications from local women involved in Manx sport to participate in the Commonwealth Women’s Leadership Programme 2024/25.
The programme provides access to education and networking opportunities with an ultimate aim to empower women to become leaders within their sport and communities. It is available to all female leaders working in sport within either a professional or voluntary capacity, including coaches, administrators, coaches, executives, official and physios, who can demonstrate a need for such an opportunity.
The successful participants will receive a £5000 scholarship to support them on their individual development pathway. The programme will support participants to not only clarify their leadership ambitions and recognise their leadership strengths but more importantly will broaden their understanding of their role in supporting equality within the Commonwealth Sport Movement. Participants will be supported by both local and international mentors to support their journey and ambitions.
In 2022, Isle of Man based Louise Corkill was awarded a place on the Programme. She is a Sports Liaison Officer with Isle of Man Sport and after being awarded her Masters degree in Sport Psychology she has been involved in high performance and talent development within hockey, coaching within the England Hockey Player Pathway as well as holding other regional and governance roles within the sport.

Alongside a financial scholarship to assist in your own personal development plan, having an international mentor to connect with who provides check and challenge is an invaluable resource that was hugely beneficial for me.
‘In addition, being part of a community and network of women across the commonwealth all looking to create change within sport is an exciting opportunity and I would encourage any women in sport to apply to be part of this!’
